Over the Rinkendlsteig to the Archenkanzel: 7 ½ to 8 hours, ascent 1,300 m, descent 1,300 m
Start: St. Bartholomä (Königssee), bus 846 from Hintersee to Berchtesgaden train station, then bus 841 to Königssee (bus is free with the guest card, boat to St. Bartholomä (circa 11 euros).
From St. Bartholomä, the path leads through the woods, first rather level then increasingly steeper, towards the Rinnkendlsteig. The climb will offer a fantastic view of the Königssee , traversing at times exposed surfaces making use of ladders and secured steel ropes. Upon reaching the viewpoint Archenkanzel, it is recommended to take a break in order to enjoy the wonderful panoramic view. From there, we will hike onward through the woods to the Kührointhütte (possibility to stop for refreshments) and continue to the Grünsteinhütte. From here we will climb further 100 meters to reach the Grünstein peak (1,305 m), where we will enjoy a great 360 view. Back at the Grünsteinhütte we will descend, first on a steep path and then on a very steep forest road, down to the Königssee. We will return with bus 841 to Berchtesgaden train station and finish the trip with bus 846 to Hintersee.
